Raccoon — Lifetime Deal Alerts
Privacy Policy
The Raccoon extension collects no personal data. There is no account, no analytics, and no tracking. Everything it remembers stays inside your own browser, and you can clear it at any time.
1. Who we are
Raccoon is an independent project that helps you see whether a SaaS tool you are looking at is running a lifetime deal or a real discount. This policy covers the Raccoon browser extension and the website at raccoonalerts.com.
2. What the extension stores on your device
The extension uses your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your machine and is not visible to us.
| What | Why it is there |
|---|---|
| A cached copy of our public deal index (which tool has which deal) | So the card can render instantly, without a request while you browse. Refreshed every six hours. |
| Your settings: quiet mode, digest frequency | To remember your choices between sessions. |
| Your watchlist (tools you asked to be notified about) | To send you a notification when one of them gets a new deal. |
| Domains you chose to hide permanently | So the card does not appear again on a site you dismissed. |
| A list of deal IDs already notified, and badge state | To avoid showing the same notification twice and to draw the toolbar indicator. |
| Four counters (cards shown, deal clicks, cards closed, reminders set) plus the time of the first and last record | So you — and only you, on the settings page — can see whether the extension is doing anything for you. |
The counters are aggregate numbers. They do not record which sites you visited, which tools you looked at, URLs, or a sequence of events. There is no per-visit history stored anywhere.
3. What the extension never does
- It does not create an account for you, and never asks for your email.
- It does not read, collect, or transmit the content of the pages you visit — not text, not forms, not cookies, not the DOM. It only compares the current hostname and path against its local cache.
- It does not record your browsing history. Lookups happen on your device, against data already stored there.
- It does not set its own cookies and does not load any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDK.
- It does not execute remote code. Every line that runs is inside the package you installed.
4. The only request the extension makes
It downloads the public deal index from https://api.raccoonalerts.com — on install,
every six hours, and when you open the popup. The request carries no identifier, no query
about you, and no page you are on.
As with any web request, our server receives the IP address of the connection. We keep short-lived operational logs to detect abuse and outages; we do not use them to build profiles, and we do not sell or share them.
5. The website
Newsletter
If you submit your email on raccoonalerts.com, we store it to send you the deal digest. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. We do not sell or rent the list, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Cookies and analytics
The website sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies and loads no third-party tracking pixels. If we ever add aggregate, privacy-friendly statistics, this page will be updated before that happens.
6. Affiliate links
Raccoon is free. Some deal links are affiliate links: if you buy through one, the marketplace pays us a commission and you pay exactly the same price. This is disclosed on every card.
When you click a deal you leave for the vendor's or marketplace's own site, and their privacy policy applies from that point — including any cookie they set to attribute the visit. We do not place our own affiliate cookie on a page you did not click through from us, and we never overwrite another affiliate's attribution.
7. Your choices
- Clear the data: the extension's settings page has a statistics block with a clear button; removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
- Stop the cards: turn on quiet mode, or hide a specific domain permanently.
- Stop notifications: remove the tool from your watchlist, or turn notifications off in your browser.
- Newsletter: unsubscribe from any email, or write to us for deletion.
8. Children
The extension and the website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
9. Changes to this policy
If the extension starts doing something this page does not describe, we will update the page and the date at the top before the change ships. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
